For over three years, a diverse group of talented chefs shared weekly cooking lessons in de Volkskrant. These carefully chosen professionals, each with a unique personality, compelling story, and special expertise, offered a rich variety of culinary insights. Each chef excelled in their field, resulting in a vibrant collection of original recipes. The series explored everything from vegetable-centric dishes to cooking with organ meats, reducing waste, or incorporating wild game. It highlighted cuisines as varied as modern Surinamese, traditional Dutch, and Spanish tapas, alongside trendy cocktails.
Now, the best of "Lessen in Lekkers" has been compiled into a single volume. The collection features thirteen captivating interviews and ninety extraordinary recipes, beautifully documented by photographer Rein Janssen, who elevates food photography to an art form. The book includes contributions from renowned chefs such as Niven Kunz, Jonathan Karpathios, Dick Soek, Cees Holtkamp, and Ramon Beuk, among others.
